Urban agriculture can be a personal or a community endeavour. It’s all about weaving little bits of self-sufficiency into our lives and changing the way we view our space. It’s about a changing perspective, for one thing. Once we realise that instead of growing an inedible flower we can just as easily grow something that’s just as pretty but also food, things like petunias and lawns may start looking a little less useful. Urban greening more generally is all about bringing more plants into cities; ultimately it is as much an agricultural pursuit as it can be an aesthetic and architectural pursuit – a reimagining of city spaces.
